基本规则
TopCoder的比赛类型很多,最常见的是周赛SRM(Single Round Match),另外还有TCHS SRM(TopCoder High School SRM,题目和SRM一样,仅限中学生参加,参赛者水平较低,据说涨rating很容易),马拉松(Marathon Matchs),还有TCOpen(每年两次的大比赛)之类的比赛。因为大多数人都在做SRM,所以本文介绍的TC比赛即为SRM。
SRM的规则总结起来就是一句话:75分钟做完3道难度递增的题。
TC的每个用户(handle)都有自己的积分(rating),从0-3000+不等。成绩越好,分数越高。
积分与颜色的对应为:白色——未参赛(unrated);灰色——0~899;绿色——900~1199;蓝色——1200~1499;黄色——1500~2199;红色——2200+。另外排名最高的几个人在TC客户端中会变成红色靶子图标。
比赛分为两个Division,Div I和Div II。白色灰色和绿色的参加Div II,蓝色黄色和红色的参加Div I。Div I的题要比Div II难许多,一般DivII的最后一题和Div I的第一或第二题是一样的。无论是Div I或Div II。三道题目的Score一般为250, 500和1000。
TC的计分规则很诡异,可以见http://www.topcoder.com/wiki/display/tc/Algorithm+Competition+Rating+System,但基本是没人看的懂。不过,TC积分规则的基本思想很简单。
首先是SRM每道题的计分规则。题目从打开开始计时,随着时间的流逝,你这道题目可能得到的分数也越来越少。不过分数减少的速率会逐渐变慢(有人说是先快后慢再快再慢,我不清楚到底哪个是对的,不过总体趋势是越来越慢),一般1000分的题目在降低到300分的时候就基本不会再下降太多了。每道题点击Submit才算正式提交,如果Submit之后发现错误,还可以再次点击Submit修改提交,不过这样会扣除这道题一定的分数。
其次是TC的计分规则。复杂的数学公式很难看懂,但大概的计分思想是:根据此次比赛的得分算出一个这次比赛的rank,然后和以前的rank做比较,求出一个期望的rank,再根据这个期望的rank调整rating。而有时也会出现考得很砸但依然涨rating的情况,不过总体来说TC的计分公式是十分稳定的。
运行环境TC的客户端是一个Java程序,所以需要JRE(Java Runtime Environment)或者JDK(Java Development Kit)来运行。如果平时不写Java程序的话,装JRE就可以了。毕竟JDK比JRE大一个数量级,下载慢。安装照着提示完成就行了。推荐使用1.4.1以后的版本,因为带了java web start,可以快速登陆。具体方法下一部分讲。

注册原文在注册的地方没有详细说明,但很多人似乎对注册都有疑问。所以这里我来注册一个小号,并通过整个过程讲解如何注册。
首先打开http://www.topcoder.com/tc(本文后面TopCoder的主页都指这个网址),然后点击右上角的Register Now(没看到?你可能看到了一个Login,目光向下挪一点,那个红底白字的“Register Now”就在下面)。接下来会弹出http://www.topcoder.com/reg这个页面,因为我们要参加SRM,所以选择第一个,Competition Registration。如果要参加TCHS可以选择第二个High School (Secondary School) Registration。这些以后都可以更改(这里没有选的如果以后要选上,只需要更新个人设置并挑勾;如果选上的要撤销选择则需要点一个“Unregister”的链接)。这里选择项目的多少和后面的页面需要填写内容的多少相关,本文以只选择第一项为例。
需要填写的项目和对应的中文翻译如下:
* Given Name:  名
* Surname:     姓
* Address1:  地址1
Address2:  地址2
Address3:  地址3(如果一行写不开,就在三行中分别写)
* City:   城市
State (US Only):  地区(不在美国就不用选)
Postal Code:  邮编
Province:  省
* Country:  国家
* Country to represent:  代表国家(不知道啥意思,中国人两个都填China就行)
* Timezone:  时区(选Asia/Chongqing)

* Email Address:  电子邮件
* Confirm Email Address:  确认电子邮件地址(就是把电子邮件地址重新打一遍)
Email Notifications:  邮件提醒(就是它给你发邮件提醒什么东西)

* Enable Member Contact:  允许成员联系(似乎就是说是不是让别人在TC上能找到你)
* Show / hide earnings:  显示/隐藏收入(大概是说别人是不是能看到你赚了多少钱,TC的比赛可是有钱赚的)
* User Name:  用户名(下面的话提醒你一定不要填错,因为注册多个用户是不符合规定的。据说有人因为别人在TC客户端和他打招呼说“怎么你拿小号上了”,那个人的号就被封了)
* Password:  密码
* Confirm Password:  确认密码
* Secret Question:  密码找回问题(找回密码时需要回答这个问题,注意至少要8个字符长,而一个中文字似乎算一个字符,所以最后可能要打几个问号补齐长度)
* Secret Question Response:  密码找回问题答案
Quote:  座右铭,就是个签名档之类的东西
* Student/Professional:  学生/职业程序员
* = required  带*的项目必填
填写之后点Term of Use下面的I Agree,再点Submit,完成提交。除了用户名别的以后似乎都可以改。
接下来进入Demographics页面,这个大概相当于一个注册用户情况调查。
* Age :  年龄
* Gender :  性别(Male男,Female女)
* Ethnic Background :  民族背景(似乎选Asian or Pacific Islander就行吧……)
* Primary Interest in TopCoder :  在TC的主要兴趣,看不懂的就选第一个吧,那个是说你的兴趣在奖金……
* Shirt Size :  T-Shirt大小(有的比赛会给排名前N的选手发T-Shirt,这里你需要选择适合自己的大小,如果选最后一个说明你不想要T-Shirt,人家也不发你了。TC的T-Shirt还是挺好看的,比AStar的好)
* College Major :  大学的专业
* College Major Description :  这个不知道啥意思,随便填点东西就行……
* Degree Program :  学位(从上到下分别为:准学士,学士,硕士,博士,中学生)
* Graduation Year :  毕业年份
* Graduation Month :  毕业月份
* Clubs / Organizations :  组织(一般选None,可以按住Ctrl点鼠标多选)
Other Clubs / Organizations :  其它组织
* School:  学校(点Choose School选择学校,可以搜索,不过为啥shanghaijiaotong university才2个人注册?!)
* Show / hide my school:  显示/隐藏我的学校
GPA:  不懂的自己百度去……
GPA Scale:  同上
Resume:  简历
* How did you hear about TopCoder?:  你怎么知道的TC,如果选了“Member Referral”的话,需要填写那个人在TC的用户名(欢迎填写sqybi~)

点Submit,进入Confirm页面,确认信息。如果有误可以点Edit修改,否则点最下面的Confirm提交。
接下来进入Success,提示你已经发送一封邮件到你的邮箱中,你必须去点击里面的链接激活用户。激活之后就可以使用这个用户了。
登录登录的方法一般都是使用Java Web Start。
在TopCoder主页(
http://www.topcoder.com/tc)最下方有一段话,第一句是“Load the Arena as an Applet or as a Java Web Start Application”。点“Java Web Start Application”,就会自动下载登陆需要的文件(一个jnlp格式的文件,本机装了JRE/JDK才能打开)。经测试在IE7下这个链接似乎不管用,在Firefox 3下正常。
然后运行下载下来的jnlp文件,就打开了TC客户端。第一次运行和有更新的时候会自动下载安装程序,等待即可,很快。
在我这里有时会提示“语法错误”,但没有任何影响,点“确定”就可以。启动可能会慢一些,耐心等待。
然后输入用户名密码,在Connection的地方选合适的登录方式(一般Direct就行,如果不行的话可以试试别的或者用AUTODETECT自动检测),在PROXY处设置代理,点GO登陆。这时可能还会提示语法错误,再确定就行,这个也没有什么影响。

菜单项:
- Main里可以看在线名单和找人。
- Lobbies基本用不着,因为用户一般都在Chat Room 1。
- Options里是一些选项和颜色设置。
- Practice Rooms里有大量的练习,都是以前比赛的题目
- Active Contests只有有比赛的时候才有用,显示当前正在进行和将要进行的比赛以及比赛注册之类的东西。
- Help里是….不用说了吧。
Rating Key: handle的颜色是随着积分而改变的,这里显示了积分与颜色的关系。
MESSAGES: 比赛的时候这里有注册提示和clarification。
LEADER BOARD: 看每个room的最高分。
Who’s here: 当前room里的人。
Chat Area: 聊天。
练习
在Practice Rooms里随便选择一个room就可以进入practice了。
界面与主页面稍有变化,但基本相同,略去不画。主要的变化就是Who’s here分成了两块,多了一块Who’s assigned。这块显示的是谁被分到了这个room。因为是练习区,所以只要是在这里打开过题的都算是assigned。而在正式比赛中room是由TC分配的。这里显示的是被分配到这个room的人。界面上还有一个变化是Chat Area顶上多了三块。最左边的是一个下拉菜单。里面有三个分值,选择后就可以打开相应的题目。中间的summary可以看这个room里每个人的提交情况。
在practice room里只有coding phase。提交后要判的话需要自己选择Practice Options(多出来的菜单项)里的Run System Test。
比赛
每次比赛(除了1年两次的大赛)都需要在赛前3小时-5分钟之间登陆注册方可参加,注册需要在Active Contest菜单中,选择你要参加的那个比赛,再选择Register。注意比赛前5分钟注册停止,这时候如果没有注册就不能参赛了。而注册了没有打开题目也视为没有参赛,rating不变动。
然后TopCoder开始根据每个人的rating分配room,一般每个room都有高手和菜鸟,只不过如果你的rating高,和高手分在一起的概率高一些(当然也不一定是这样,比如我上次就和yuhch大牛分在了一起……)
分配完成后,Active Contest菜单中Register一项变成Enter。选择后可以直接进入你被分配到的room。Active Contest菜单最下面还有一项暗色背景的Room子菜单,可以进入各个room溜达。
进入自己room的时候一般离开始只有3分钟左右,静一下心就可以直接开始比赛了。coding phase的过程与practice基本相同。注意每题的得分是和用的时间相关(见前面的计分规则),而时间是从你打开该题开始算的。所以一题做完后可以不急着打开下一题,先放松一下。
75分钟的coding后是5分钟的intermission,这段时间是用来休息和聊天的。
然后就是最刺激的15分钟challenge phase,也就是通常说的cha人。打开summary,双击别人的各题Score可以打开那题的程序,如果觉得有错误就可以点左下的Challenge然后输入你认为他会错的输入数据,如果输入数据合法那么系统会用标程的输出和这个程序的输出对比,如果出现不同则cha人成功。成功的话你能得到50分,对方该题分数为0;而如果失败了,你会被减去25分。每个程序只能成功被cha一次,也就是说,如果有人cha掉了这个程序,你就不能再次cha。但是一个人可以cha某个程序很多次,直到这个程序被cha掉或者你放弃。
Challenge结束后就是System Test。这个过程一般比较慢,可以先走开做其他事,过20分钟再回来看结果。System Test中的测试数据有两种:一种是出题者准备的测试数据,一种是成功cha掉别人的数据。所以,TC中很少出现有bug的程序能通过System Test的情况。
结果出来后再过一段时间,就可以看到一系列message,比如rating更新了,新的practice room建好了以及可以通过主页查看这次比赛的数据了。这时比赛就宣告结束。
注意事项
1.在TC主页(
http://www.topcoder.com/tc)上可以看到Next SRM,这是下次SRM的时间。注意我们的时间与他们刚好相差12小时,因此若时间是7月9日9:00 PM的话,这里是7月10日9:00 AM。还有要注意的是美国有夏令时,非夏令时的时候,还要再加1小时,就是7月10日10:00 AM。
2.Practice Rooms里写的程序只要点SAVE就可以保存,下次login的时候还可以看到,但是比赛时候的程序必须Submit才可以在coding phase结束后保存(coding phase结束前还是只要SAVE就可以的)。
3.若想cha别人的程序,自己必须是正分(0分也不行),所以若没有一题有正确的程序但有很好的数据的话,随便交一道看上去正确的程序,然后在challenge的时候快下手,就可以赚到了。
4.客户端自带的编辑器只有基本的编辑功能和编译及测试功能,所以若觉得不方便的话可以使用parser和plugin,TC主页最下面有plugin的连接。每个plugin都有详细说明文档,这里不再赘述。

6.最后一条,千万不要作弊,会有严重的后果。
SRM的输入输出
SRM是不用标准或文件输入和输出的,只要写一个类的一个成员函数。也就是说,你需要编写的并不是一个完整的程序,而是一个类。
输入是成员函数的参数,输出用return,所以经常需要STL中的vector和string。
因为TC的系统并不测试标准输出,所以标准输出可以当调试用。
下面以SRM 413 Div 2的1000分题目介绍程序的写法。
题目如下(选择不同的语言,题目描述会略有不同,本文以C++为例):

1.基本规则
  tc的比赛规则归结起来就是一句话:75分钟做完3道难度递增的题。
  tc的每个用户(handle)都有自己的积分,从0-3000+不等。成绩越好,分数越高。比赛分为两个division。Div I和Div II。积分<1200或者unrated(即注册但还没参加过比赛的)参加Div II,>=1200的参加Div I。Div I的题要比Div II难许多。一般DivII的最后一题和Div I的第一或第二题是一样的。无论是Div I或Div II。三道题目的Score一般为250, 500和1000左右,视每次的难度略有浮动。个人积分(rating)的增减是根据你和别人在比赛中的score以及你们原来的rating决定的。tc的提交结合了ICPC和IOI的特点,即只能交一次,必须过所有数据并且得分与用时相关。tc每周有一次Single Round Match(SRM),每年两次大的比赛(有$)。
2.运行环境
  tc的客户端是一个java程序,所以需要jre( java runtime environment) 或者jdk( java development kit) 来运行。如果平时不写java程序的话,装jre就可以了。毕竟jdk比jre大一个数量级,下载慢。安装照着提示完成就行了。推荐使用1.4.1以后的版本,因为带了java web start,可以快速登陆。具体方法下一部分讲。

3.注册与登陆。
  点主页右上角的register注册,过程没什么好说的。
  注册好后就可以登陆了。有两种方法:
  a.点左侧的Launch Arena Applet
    点后弹出一个窗口,等一会后就出现一个Load Competition Arena的按纽。 点击就运行了客户端。注意不要把这个小窗口关掉,否则客户端会一并关了。这个方法在win2000下有时候会有问题,但是在98下是正常的。不推荐。
  b.通过java web start运行
    topcoder主页底部有一栏如下:

    把那个"Java Application"拖到桌面上建立一个快捷方式,以后双击就可以直接运行了。客户端启动后有一个窗口,填上申请的username和password,如果是用代理的话,把HTTP Tunneling选上。登陆后就到了主页面。

    You and your friends are setting up a fantasy TopCoder league, where you choose coders to be on your team and score points in the league when any one of your coders wins their room or successfully challenges somebody, etc. To be fair, a system has been developed to choose the order in which picks are distributed. It works like this: first, lots are drawn to choose your position in the league. Then the player with the first position gets first pick, the second player gets second pick, all the way until the last player picks. Then the order reverses: the last player chooses again, then the next to last player, and so on, until you reach the first player again. Then the cycle repeats: the first position chooses again, then the second, and so on.
    For example: say you were in the third position on a 6 player league. You would get the 3rd pick, then you'd wait until the 10th pick (the order would be 1,2,you,4,5,6,6,5,4,you), and then the 15th pick, and so on until there were no more coders to choose. If there were 20 total picks, then you would get pick numbers 3,10,15.
    Not wanting to miss your chance at a pick, your goal is to write a program that tells you what pick numbers you have in the order that you have them. You will receive three ints indicating your position in the league(1 being the first position), the number of friends that are in the league with you, and the number of picks that are being divvied up among the league. You will return an int[] that indicates the picks that you receive in ascending order.

放弃美国PhD-校内网-饭否网-美团网


王兴如惯常一样手拿iPad走进美团网会议室见到我们的时候,刚刚录制完电视台的专访节目,他穿了一件深灰色西装上衣,这让他很不自在,平时他总是穿牛仔裤、Polo衫的。在他的员工眼中,美团网创始人的商人形象似乎并不贴切,更像是一个有张娃娃脸的32岁福建大男孩。
王兴会偶尔跟新来的同事聊聊微博,或者新款手机,也会跟人分享iPad上的新程序,大多都是跟自然科学有关,比如北美都有哪些鸟、猫头鹰会发出 什么样的叫声。他每天睡觉前会读书,大多是人物传记和心理推理小说,比如说到《蚕与摩托车维修的艺术》这本书,他会很兴奋地介绍——这是一本如何探究人生 存的意义以及怎样不要探究得过深的小说。
在iPad中,王兴有一个几乎每日都会看看的图表,那是他自己制作的,这张图表浓缩了他创业的整个路线——过去、现在、未来。
在见到王兴之前,外界已经给王兴贴上了很多标签——屡战屡败的创业客、打不死的“小强”、史上最倒霉的创业家……有人说,他是做啥啥不行——校内、海内、饭否,三个网站的创始人,但每个都活不长。但是互联网界大佬们却总会紧盯他的举动,甚至跟随他的脚步。
与他交流时,每每说到“失败”这个词,他都不会多说什么,但内心的乐观基调远大于他曾经历过的一次次失败。更何况,用失败来概括他所经历的未免过于片面。譬如,校内网毕竟让他实现了“第一桶金”的挖掘。
他自己这样总结自己的人生追求:“1997年清华本科生的开学典礼上,校领导致辞时引用了一段他们年轻时的歌词,‘眼前是一望无际的田野,身后 是一排排的厂房,我们的生活就是这样,永远战斗着奔向前方’。今天,我们眼前没有田野,我们身后也不需要厂房,但是我们的生活一样要‘纵情向前’。”
3月4日,美团网迎来成立一周年生日。下个月,王兴和他的800多名员工就要第三次为扩张办公室搬家了。或许,王兴的创业路这才称得上刚刚开始。
与巨人擦身
美团网是王兴的第三次创业,相比前两次的创业经历——社交网络校内网和类微博网站饭否都在初具规模时戛然而止,与巨人擦身而过,一岁的美团还显得太过于幼小。
一切都要从7年前说起。2003年美国出现了facebook代表的社交网络,此时的王兴正在美国特拉华大学电子与计算机工程系攻读博士。社交 网络的出现让王兴有似曾相识之感,“我在清华念电子工程时,学得最认真的一门课是计算机网络。计算机网络是电脑连接电脑,计算机是一个点,网线是线。所以 社交网络出现的时候,我立刻就意识到这是另外一张网,每个点是独立的人,人际关系是线。”
抑制不住这种不谋而合的冲动,王兴中断博士学业回国创办了校内网,走出了创业线路图的第一步,做信息和沟通的服务。
曾经担任过校内网顾问的前雅虎中国总裁谢文回忆称,王兴做校内网的时候只有七八个人,在一套三室一厅的房子里,合伙人就是老乡、同学加上女朋友。
2006年,校内网用户量暴增,而王兴却没钱增加服务器和带宽,此时资金已经成了校内网发展的最大障碍。
谢文告诉记者,当时创业的几个年轻人一共花了100多万,小有局面的校内网也被两个VC看中,但是他们提出如果谢文做CEO的话才愿意投钱,因为不太信任这些“小孩”的经营能力。
谢文却拒绝了王兴诚恳的邀请,这位王兴尊重的老师觉得“有点别扭,像是趁人之危”。无奈之下,王兴将校内转手卖给了千橡集团的陈一舟。在日志中,王兴记录到:“当我们公司已经欠下相当于我个人100个月工资的时候,我们没有太多选择。”
然而谢文透露,虽然卖掉校内网的直接诱因是缺乏资金,但也存在其他的问题。当时创业团队三个核心人物中有两个都不甚坚定,只有王兴是比较坚定的,而且王兴家里还有些钱,即使不融资也可以支持他继续经营。
而此时,谢文接到了雅虎中国总裁的职位,看到团队不坚定,就帮忙做了个决定,卖掉校内网。
“当时如果不是去雅虎,我投一点钱,再融资一部分,也许就是另外一种局面了。”谢文语气中略有惋惜,“不过单就这次创业而言,100多万的投入卖了好几千万,这是太大的成功了,跟上市的意思一样。”
回顾卖掉校内网的经历,王兴说:“在当时的时间节点上来看,跟后来是不一样的,中间还有很多的投入,所以并不觉得是陈一舟白捡了校内,他们还做了很多事情。所以现在去讨论当时的校内值多少钱没有太大的意义。”
虽然王兴可以把校内网继续做大,但是换一个角度看,这次创业也未尝不是给他积累了第一桶金,甚至这其中的经历和教训对这个“小孩”来说都是巨大的收获。
饭否归来
与美团的熙熙攘攘不同,门对门的饭否办公室里则略显冷清,门口贴着两张打印的彩色海报:I’llbeback。与校内网相比,饭否的关停让王兴感到更多的是心有不甘和无可奈何。
2007年初,同是清华校友的穆荣均辞掉了在百度的工作,跟王兴不谋而合地发现了微博客,同年5月,王兴建立中国大陆第一个微博客饭否网。“饭否”二字,体现了微型博客的“唠叨精神”,恰如中国人喜欢见人就唠叨一句“吃饭了吗?”
从注册域名、推广到培养用户,经过一年多的市场培养期,2009年上半年饭否的用户数从年初的30万左右激增到了百万,王兴称之为即将爆发期,却被突然关闭。
王兴告诉记者,饭否当时发展很快,媒体影响力大过于他的实际影响力。其实拥有100万的用户量在中国根本不算多,是很小的一个数量级,但在出现危机性事件的时候,它的媒体影响力能够加速放大,这使得媒体影响力成为一个致命的问题。
505天后,饭否终于重新出现在所有用户面前,然而此时中国微博微博服务的访问用户规模已达到12521.7万人,绝大多数分布在新浪微博。王兴坦然,跟新浪微博的影响力比起来,饭否当然不是一个数量级的。
如果饭否没有不幸“夭折”,是否能像新浪微博一样火爆?
王兴说从不做假设性的回答,但答案很可能仍然是否定的。易观国际分析师董旭告诉记者,新浪和饭否的最大区别是,没有照搬美国的模式,而是给了微博一个新的媒体性的定义,其实是把微博产业媒体化了以后的一个微博产品,从一开始就强调了微博的媒体特性。
谈及重开的饭否如何定位时,王兴称,饭否仍是一个记录和分享的网络工具,强调简单和方便,随时随地记录和分享。饭否的特点就是平等,用户不分加V或者不加V,发布的消息也不分主帖还是跟帖。
美团“长青”?
沿着创业线路图,王兴很自然的走到了商务这个发展节点上,美团出现了。这一切看起来似乎都是妙手偶得,而用王兴最为欣赏的一本书《异类》中的话来说就是:有些事情一定会发生。
王兴指着线路图说,社交网络改变人们沟通的方式、获取信息的方式、休闲娱乐和商务合作的方式,中国的互联网创新模式按照这个路线图一路发展到了今天,这不是巧合,校内网、开心、微博和团购,与其说是学习国外的创新,不如说是用户需求催生的创新。
这次到了电子商务领域,饭否被迫关闭半年后,美团网已经开始启动了。穆荣均回忆说,有一次王兴召集开了次联会,问大家假如明天倒闭了,你会做什么。
如果说校内网的失去换来了创业的第一桶金,而饭否关闭的时候则是亏钱的状态。饭否和美团的未来都还未知,面对过去半年的曲折,这个年轻的创业团队都很动容。
当时,在朋友面前一贯坦然的王兴哭了,从美国回来后他一直在创业的道路上奔波,他可能要休息下。穆荣均也哭了,感慨在这样一个辛苦的节点回味艰辛,而不是有所成果的时候回味,其中还夹杂着委屈和无奈的。
经历了校内网和饭否的挫折之后,在谢文眼里,除了外表比过去老成了一点王兴仍然是个高个子的大男孩,充满了理想和追求,好学、爱思考问题,热爱互联网和新事物,“肯定不是因为想发财才来做互联网的。”
给一个32岁的人定义失败显然过于严苛,管理能力、领导能力以及控制风险的能力在打美团这一仗的时候面临真正的考验,说行还是不行似乎都为时过早。
王兴清晰地记得他在清华读书时的校训是:为祖国健康工作50年。“我25岁回国创业,才走过7年时间,跟很多人相比我才刚刚开始,我觉得跟绝大多数工作7年的人相比,我的学到的东西、经历的事情、各方面的回报跟多数人相比都不少。”
Q&A
经济观察报:团购市场的竞争,接下来会是怎样的局面?
王兴:这个要看阶段,从去年3月4号美团上线,再过两天就一周年了,从百团大战到千团大战,到现在实际上有不少网站难以为续,市场上已经没有那 么多人在做团购了。从刚一开始爆发性的增长到现在的整合沉淀,这个阶段第一梯队比较明显的跟后面的距离在拉大,长期来看团购市场不可能应者通吃,但是很可 能是7:2:1的格局,在很多领域都是如此,搜索、IM和C2C都是如此。
经济观察报:如何在同质化竞争中找到差异化的优势?
王兴:只能说大家做得都不是很好,坦白讲我认为美团还有很大的改进空间,包括服务方面。理想的状态应该是消费者每天在手机上都会收到自己订阅感兴趣的消费领域的团购信息,美团可以提供很精品的商家和深度的折扣。
另一个也同样是在手机上,当消费者想要去看电影的时候可以搜索着附近有哪些电影院,有哪些好的折扣。
其实我们不定义为团购,而是本地电子商务,就是用电子化的方式帮助本地商家完成交易。
经济观察报:有没有想过饭否和美团有交叉的地方?
王兴:有,之所以会做美团网是因为之前我们做的是社会化网络和社会化媒体,我想这个东西会改变生活的很多方面,社交网络会改变人们获取信息的方 式,也会改变人们沟通和娱乐的方式,比如facebook,美国人现在已经不用IM了。另一方面我认为社交网络也会改变人们商务交易的方式。
美团网其实没打什么广告,没花费多少推广费用,他是靠口碑传播,其中很大部分是靠社交媒体。从这个角度出发,美团要充分利用好社交媒体,但不一定要限定在某一个媒体。我们要通过所有的渠道去传播,饭否也好新浪微博也好,开心网、人人网都很好。
经济观察报:这些新的模式好像都是你带到中国来的,如何做到都会比国内早?
王兴:这跟书读百遍其义自现一个道理,因为我对这个领域足够关注,你们有没有看到《异类》这本书,这里面举了很多例子讲到如果你想把一件事情做 到足够好的话你需要花一万个小时的时间去联系,对于社交网络这个事情,我从03年底开始关注,然后持续关注,已经花掉很多时间在这上面。
经济观察报:每次从国外将好的模式带到中国来,您认为国内的资本会认可吗?
王兴:我们的目的从来不是融资,融资只是手段。我只是想把好的产品做出来,改变人们的生活,这个过程中可能需要资金的支持,所以才会去找融资。
经济观察报:怎么能够在恰好的时间点选中对的商业模式拿到中国来?
王兴:看一个东西要看得比别人远,有两点因素,一个是视力好,一个是站的比别人更靠前。可能视力都差不多,但是我们一直在摸索,比别人更靠前一点。
经济观察报:美国更早出现创新是因为思维方式比我们超前吗?
王兴:中国人不比美国人笨,但是美国人也不比中国人笨。为什么他们先发现呢,是因为他们的市场更加成熟,他先走到这个阶段。产品是为了满足用户需求,只有创新的需求出现了,创新的产品才会出现,如果没有需求出现就不会有一个产品来满足他。
美国市场比我们发展得更靠前,用户的需求出现了,于是他们就创新出一种产品来满足。在中国也会出现这样的需求,这时候你能想出一个完全不一样的也很好,如果没有的话,没有必要为了不同而不同。
具体到单个用户,他不介意是新还是不新,只会关心好还是不好。
经济观察报:有人说你善于打天下不善守天下,是否是说您善于开拓不善于管理,您认为呢?
王兴:这可能跟我的性格偏向于重心向前比较有关系,在管理上还需要时间检验,因为之前做的东西规模都很小,管20个人和200个人是不一样的挑战。美团现在600多人,也是我之前没有处理过的事情,蛮有趣的,我喜欢新东西。
经济观察报:管理这么多人应付得过来吗?
王兴:这个公司还在运转,不能说完美,但是大的方向没问题。就像一辆车,只要还能开,刹车没问题,油轮没问题,有点抛锚滴漏也无所谓。
经济观察报:怎么看待失败?有人称你为“连败”创业,你介意吗?
王兴:这跟学校和社会的区别一样,在学校如果你挂科了就会被标注为重修,学校是非常惩罚失败的,但是社会不一样,只要最后做好了,之前的多少次失败都无所谓,所以不要畏惧失败。
我并不介意外界的评价,这是文化的差异,但是我欣喜的看地国内的文化正在向美国的文化转变,对失败更加容忍。来自: 经济观察报
